Garden Herb Body Oil.

Early Summer is my favorite time of year in our garden. It’s the time when flowers start to bloom, plants start to flourish and everything is still fresh and green.  To preserve a bit of that seasonal goodness, I like to make an infused body oil with some of my favorite skin benefiting herb that can be harvest at that time. The oil is a lovely reminder of the magical time of year and a real gift for the body.

how to prepare

There are faster ways to infuse oils, but a solar infusion is slow and easy, and a practice that people have been using for centuries.  To start, mix dry herbs together and place in a sanitized quart jar, leaving about 2 inches of open space at the top of jar. Fill the rest of the jar up with oil mixture. Place your jar in a sunny window and let sit for about 4 weeks). Give you jar a little shake every day or so, and put some love and intention in it. Once your infusion is ready, strain the herbs with a fine strainer or cheese cloth (I like to use our tea steep) into another clean jar. Add a few drops of essential oil (or not if you’re not a big fragrance person).

Ingredients

2 parts lavender

2 parts comfrey leaf

2 parts calendula

1 part chamomile

1 pinch of rose petal

½ Olive Oil

½ grapeseed oil

A few drops of equal parts lavender and clary sage essential oil

HOW TO USE

Once finished, use oil as an all over moisturizer, baby, oil, massage oil, etc.
